Membership - Benefits

SECHA was formed in 1983 representing originally six Care Homes in the South of Essex.  It now has a membership of over 64 and is a growing pro-active representative body of Homes supplying care and or nursing beds in the community.

SECHA Seeks to influence National and Local Government to foster and encourage throughout the County the highest possible standards of Care. These high standards and principles of care as agreed by members are without detriment to the individual style or method of management. Only fully registered and approved Homes have the right to display a SECHA Membership Certificate

Other benefits of being a member of SECHA are:

  • We provide local training initiatives for both Managers and Care Staff at very reduced rates.
  • We operate the Essex Bed Vacancy Register for all Member Homes, (Free of charge to members) and other subscribers which it circulates every Thursday by e-mail to Social Service Officers, NHS Trusts and other placement teams across Essex, as well as providing private enquirers with a comprehensive list of suitable vacancies available.  It is also available on this site and updated regularly.
  • Members Open Meetings. Conferences and Seminars are arranged exchanging information and ideas.
  • We operate a full Quality Control Programme to maintain our Aims and Objectives.
  • We operate a confidential ‘BUDDY’ system of help and assistance to our members.
  • Liaison with National & Local Government and CSCI offices relevant to our members.
  • As an Umbrella Body you have access to the CRB “Disclosure” system at only £3.00 above the CRB fee.

During the ensuing years we will have to face many changes on a local, national and international front.  In addition to this there is the need to keep up to date on all aspects that affect our industries.

Whilst we should not be opposed to changes it is essential that we all work together so as to ensure that they are both practicable, achievable and that they are for the betterment of our profession.

In joining and becoming part of SECHA you will belong to a group of over 64 other Care homes who have the same interests and who, through us can speak with the strength of representing so many Homes. We already have good relationships with many bodies and organisations as a result of which our members are benefiting with open meetings being arranged with CSCI and Southend Hospital Discharge team  to name but two.

The benefits are enormous.  We are an Umbrella Body for the CRB for our members only.  We run a bed register which is e-mailed to all the placement teams in most of Essex and which is on this website and updated constantly.  We provide training which is inexpensive and good quality, we provide legal employment information via newsletters from a national firm of solicitors and much, much more, and we are developing all the time.  We have a Buddy system to help members with questions and problems.  Now is the time to be part of our Association as we become more pro-active and eager to promote our members interests.

Read the additional information on the benefits of belonging to our organisation,  If you are considering joining then complete the application form and forward to us.  We do hope that you will decide to take the step of applying for membership.
